Cardiac Rehabilitation is a comprehensive program established at Western Missouri Medical Center for individuals with heart disease. Our objectives are to restore and or maintain optimal physiological, social, and emotional status through evaluation, diet, education and prescribed exercise that is supervised by trained professionals.
The individuals that obtain the most benefit from our program have had a recent heart attack, a balloon angioplasty, heart surgery, have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease or stable angina, high blood pressure, diabetes or a family history of heart disease.
After an evaluation by our professional staff to determine if you qualify for the program, individual goals are developed. You will receive education on cardiovascular disease and reducing risk factors. Participating in the program will enhance your feeling of well-being and improve your quality of life and assist in resuming a healthy lifestyle. You will also experience enhanced performance at work, recreational activities and sport activities.
The guidelines for our program are provided by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the Missouri Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the American College of Sports Medicine.
