WMMC Announces #TeamUp2CleanUp to Prevent the Spread of Germs

Warrensburg, MO (March 13, 2020) — Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is announcing the challenge for everyone to #TeamUp2CleanUp to help prevent the spread of germs in our community. This challenge is to designate two times every day to stop and take two minutes to sanitize your hands, workstations, and nearby public areas.

WMMC staff is not only accepting the challenge, but is also challenging other businesses to #TeamUp2CleanUp, as well as all members of the community. The common cold, flu, and other respiratory infections are all illnesses that are spread by touching contaminated surfaces, or the virus coming into contact through a person’s mouth, eyes, or nose.

To help be proactive against the spread of these germs, some ideal places to sanitize are:

  • Light switches
  • Door handles
  • Public areas such as waiting rooms, hallways, staircases, etc.
  • Personal and work phones
  • Devices such as tablets, computers, keyboards, etc.
  • Any additional high-touch areas

The CDC has made these additional recommendations to prevent the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based sanitizer
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with sick people
  • Clean and disinfect regularly
  • Stay home when you are sick

If you accept the challenge, tag WMMC on Facebook @WesternMoMed or by using the hashtag #TeamUp2CleanUp to help spread awareness of these proactive measures to keep our community healthy.

If you are showing symptoms and believe that you at risk for COVID-19, call the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) statewide public hotline at 877-435-8411.
