WARRENSBURG, MO (July 11, 2018) – Western Missouri Medical Center and UCM Nutrition and Kinesiology partnered up in the first ever Sports Medicine Seminar to educate athletic professionals on some of the most pressing health concerns facing athletes and how to address them.

One of the pressing topics covered were the value of conducting EKG screenings for student athletes as a way to uncover possible heart conditions that could affect their health and performance, by David Glover, MD, a family medicine and UCM Athletics Team physician, kicked off the seminar with this insightful discussion.

Other presentations included Drew Glover, MD, who covered heat related illnesses and concussions in depth, and how these health concerns should be treated. Dana Brewington, MD, shared special considerations about the female athlete. After their presentations, both doctors were joined by Christopher Wittgren, DO, from WMMC’s Orthopedic Surgery for a sports medicine panel.
