Empowering Women Through Earlier Detection

At WMMC, we believe that no woman should have to wait nearly two months for a potentially life-saving mammogram. With breast cancer affecting one in eight women during their lifetime, early detection is crucial. When caught early, localized breast cancer cases have a five-year survival rate of 99%.

Our 2025 “Empower Through Early Detection” campaign aims to address a critical healthcare need in our community by significantly reducing mammogram appointment wait times and enhancing our diagnostic capabilities. Your support on our Day of Giving will directly impact the health of women in Johnson County and beyond.

The Challenge

Current Wait Time: 59 Days

The growing awareness of the importance of breast cancer screenings has led to increased demand for mammograms at WMMC. While this is a positive development, it has resulted in significant scheduling delays, with patients currently waiting 59 days for an appointment.

This wait time can mean the difference between early detection and a more advanced diagnosis, potentially impacting treatment options and outcomes.

The Solution

Our Goal: Reduce Wait Times to 10 Days

To address this urgent need, we’re raising funds to purchase:

  • Two Fujifilm ASPIRE Cristalle 3D Mammography machines (one with stereotactic biopsy capabilities)
  • One Samsung RS85 Prestige Ultrasound Machine

These advanced technologies will provide the highest quality images, enable faster and more accurate diagnoses, and allow for on-site biopsies—all while improving patient comfort through new Comfort Paddle technology.

The Impact

Transforming Breast Cancer Care in Our Community

Your donation will help bring immediate benefits to our patients:

  • Reduced wait times from 59 days to approximately 10 days
  • Faster diagnostic results (typically within five days)
  • Increased screening capacity
  • Advanced diagnostic capabilities, including on-site biopsies
  • Improved patient comfort during screenings

Beyond these immediate benefits, your support helps build a lasting legacy of hope for women in our community, ensuring better outcomes and higher survival rates through early detection.

Our Progress

Help Us Reach Our Goal

The total project cost is $1,355,000, with WMMC already committing $500,000 for facility updates and construction. We need your help to raise the remaining $855,000 for this essential equipment.
