Who We Are

El auxiliar de WMMC es una rama de apoyo de WMMC. Organizan eventos de recaudación de fondos durante todo el año para recaudar fondos para comprar equipos médicos y otorgar becas a estudiantes que siguen carreras de atención médica. El auxiliar administra la tienda de regalos Wishing Well, ubicada en la entrada principal de WMMC.

Since the founding of the Auxiliary in 1968, over $775,000 has been given to benefit our Medical Center and its patients. In addition, the Auxiliary has provided over $119,000 in scholarships.

Esfuerzos auxiliares

The Auxiliary continues its efforts while living out its “Service is our Purpose” motto. To that end, the more than 250 members of the WMMC Auxiliary serve WMMC in a variety of meaningful ways. More than 100 volunteers staff the Wishing Well Gift Shop and three hospital lobbies, contributing nearly 13,000 volunteer hours annually. The Auxiliary also hosts fundraisers throughout the year to support healthcare career scholarships and equipment purchases for WMMC, including the Annual Ice Cream Social, Holiday Sale, Book Fairs, Jewelry Fairs and Linen Fairs.

In addition, Auxiliary members provide handmade comfort pillows for surgery patients, specially made bras for post-mastectomy patients and teddy bears for pediatric surgery patients. They also distribute baskets and treats to staff on May Day and Halloween, present a gift basket to the first baby of the New Year born at WMMC and provide memory boxes to families of stillborn infants.

Beca

The WMMC Auxiliary sponsors health career scholarships for Johnson County residents or those attending University of Central Missouri, State Fair Community College or University of Missouri – KC that are pursuing a career in healthcare in any health care field.

El Comité Auxiliar de Becas revisa todas las solicitudes completas y los beneficiarios se seleccionan según la necesidad financiera, la capacidad académica, los planes de trabajo y un interés demostrado en la atención médica.

Las solicitudes están disponibles en la primavera de cada año y deben completarse a más tardar el 1 de abril de cada año.

Wishing Well Gift Shop

The Wishing Well Gift Shop is operated by the WMMC Auxiliary. Every purchase provides funding to the WMMC Auxiliary, which supports Western Missouri Medical Center and its patients — funding equipment, patient care, scholarships and more.
