Obesity & Obesity-Related Diseases

Obesity is a complex, chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide and is linked to numerous serious health conditions, including:

  • Diabetes tipo 2
  • Enfermedad del corazón
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Certain Cancers

Obesity can also lead to joint pain, depression, and a reduced quality of life. Bariatric surgery can help prevent or reverse these conditions, leading to improved health and a higher quality of life.

Bariatric Surgery at WMMC

Our bariatric program supports individuals with obesity or related health conditions who have not found success with diet and exercise alone. We offer different options tailored to patient’s needs and goals, including but not limited to sleeve gastrectomy and endoscopic gastric balloon:

  • Gastric Sleeve (Sleeve Gastrectomy) – A minimally invasive procedure that reduces the size of the stomach, helping patients feel full sooner and support long-term weight loss.
  • Orbera® Intragastric BalloonA non-surgical, temporary balloon placed in the stomach for six months to promote portion control and healthy eating habits, supported by ongoing lifestyle coaching. Aprender más acerca de Orbera®
