Warrensburg, MO — Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) has received a five-star overall hospital quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating a hospital can achieve. WMMC is one of only 10 hospitals in Missouri that currently hold an overall CMS 5-star rating.
The 2024 Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating is updated annually based on 46 hospital quality measures, which are divided into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care. By achieving a five-star rating, WMMC met or exceeded the national benchmark in all five categories.
Less than 400 hospitals across the country currently hold a five-star overall rating. WMMC previously received a 5-star designation in 2022, making the current rating the second 5-star designation the hospital has achieved since the rating system began in 2016.

According to CMS, the purpose of the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating is to summarize quality measure information reported on the Care Compare website in a way that is accessible and easy to understand for patients and consumers. Each hospital has a star rating that ranges from one to five stars, with five stars signifying the highest quality.
