Warrensburg, MO — Western Missouri Medical Center is encouraging members of the community to participate in the 2025 Johnson County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), a survey that will serve as the foundation for WMMC’s community health improvement efforts for the next three years.
The Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is a brief online survey designed to provide insight into current community health issues and evaluate the delivery of local health services. Nonprofit hospitals conduct the survey every three years as a general requirement for tax exemption. Following the 2025 survey, WMMC’s CHNA committee will develop a 3-year plan based on the survey data, public health information and a Community Town Hall scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 from 4-6:30 p.m. at WMMC’s Courtyard Café.
Residents of Johnson County and the surrounding areas are encouraged to complete the 2025 online survey by visiting wmmc.com/CHNA. The deadline for participation in the survey is Monday, March 3. Participation in the survey is confidential.
Upon completion of the survey, participants will be entered into a chance to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards. Gift card winners will be notified via phone and email.
The Missouri Hospital Association Quality Works team facilitated the most recent CHNA process in 2022. Input from 935 residents who primarily reside in Johnson County represented the broad interest of the communities in WMMC’s service area. The team collected additional information through a town hall meeting with community partners.
After analyzing the 2022 data, the CHNA committee identified mental health, substance abuse, chronic diseases and health care affordability as emerging health concerns in Johnson County. WMMC is currently addressing each of these health concerns through individual committees comprised of leaders and community members from different organizations.
