Empower Through Early Detection
Campaign Complete. A Lasting Impact.
Western Missouri Medical Center is proud to announce the successful completion of the Empower Through Early Detection campaign, reaching its $855,000 fundraising goal to expand advanced breast imaging technology for women throughout our region.
This milestone was made possible through the generosity of our community, including an anonymous $50,000 gift that completed the donor-supported portion of the project. Every contribution helped strengthen WMMC’s ability to provide earlier detection, more accurate diagnoses, and an improved patient experience.
While fundraising has concluded, the impact of this project is just beginning. Installation of the remaining equipment is scheduled for fall 2026, further expanding access to advanced breast imaging and bringing stereotactic breast biopsy services back to WMMC.

Project Overview
Él Empower Through Early Detection initiative represents an $880,000 investment in advanced breast imaging technology.
- $25,000 invested by WMMC for facility upgrades

Installation of the project’s final equipment is scheduled for fall 2026.
Once complete, the project will include:
- Fujifilm ASPIRE Cristalle 3D Mammography System ✔ Currently serving patients
- Samsung RS85 Prestige Ultrasound System ✔ Currently serving patients
- Second Fujifilm 3D Mammography System with Stereotactic Biopsy Capabilities – Installation scheduled for Fall 2026
The addition of stereotactic breast biopsy services will once again allow patients to receive this important diagnostic procedure at WMMC, expanding access to advanced breast cancer diagnostics close to home.
Meet the Machine: Fujifilm ASPIRE Cristalle
Currently serving patients, the Fujifilm ASPIRE Cristalle 3D Mammography System provides exceptional image quality while improving patient comfort and safety.
Features include:
- Comfort Paddle Technology: Provides more even compression for a more comfortable exam.
- Hexagonal Close Pattern (HCP) Technology: Increases imaging efficiency while reducing radiation exposure.
- Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Mammography): Produces clearer, more detailed images for improved detection of abnormalities.
- Advanced Imaging Software: Delivers high-quality images while reducing the need for repeat exams.

Also currently serving patients, the Samsung RS85 Prestige Ultrasound System enhances breast imaging, particularly for women with dense breast tissue.
Features include:
- High-Resolution Imaging: Provides detailed views for comprehensive breast evaluation.
- Advanced Doppler & Elastography Technology: Assists in differentiating tissue characteristics to support more accurate diagnoses.
- Comfortable, Non-Invasive Exams: Offers a quick, safe, and comfortable imaging experience.
- Improved Diagnostic Confidence: Enhances early detection, especially for women with dense breast tissue.
Coming Fall 2026
UN second Fujifilm 3D Mammography System with stereotactic biopsy capabilities will complete the project, restoring stereotactic breast biopsy services at WMMC and expanding access to comprehensive breast cancer diagnostics.
