Do I have to use a network provider?
Yes. Using a TRICARE-authorized network provider helps avoid unnecessary out-of-pocket costs.
How do I share medical records with my civilian provider?
Call 660-687-2102 to speak with a medical records specialist at the 509 MDG. They can provide the information your civilian provider needs.
Who requests approval for off-base care?
Civilian specialists submit requests to TriWest when labs, surgeries, or procedures require prior approval.
The easiest way to manage your TRICARE specialty care referrals is through the TriWest portal:
Ir a tricare.triwest.com.
Create a Beneficiary Account if you haven’t used the portal before.
View and manage your specialty referrals online.
Verify that your referral has been approved.
For questions about denials, call TriWest at 1-888-874-9378.
Check which civilian specialist is assigned.
To select a different provider, use the “Change My Provider” button or contact TriWest directly.
Consejo: Always verify that your referral is authorized before attending appointments or completing procedures. TriWest is responsible for authorizing all PCM referrals, surgeries, procedures, and tests. Do not rely on your civilian provider to confirm authorization.
Following these steps helps you:
Avoid delays in care
Ensure services are properly authorized
Prevent unnecessary out-of-pocket costs
By understanding your TRICARE benefits, using network providers, and verifying authorizations, you can focus on your health while Western Missouri Medical Center and TriWest manage the administrative details.
