WMMC Announces Clinic Optimization Plan to Enhance Access to Primary Care Across the Region

Warrensburg, Missouri —Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) announced the launch of its Clinic Optimization Plan, a system-wide initiative that better aligns primary care resources to maximize appointment availability, improve provider efficiency, and ensure patients have continued access to high-quality care throughout the WMMC network.

This initiative reflects WMMC’s ongoing commitment to improving how and where patients receive care by better coordinating providers, increasing scheduling capacity, and strengthening clinic operations across the primary care network. These improvements are designed to help patients get timely appointments, continue seeing trusted providers, and support the long-term strength and sustainability of primary care services in the region.

As part of the Clinic Optimization Plan, effective September 1, 2026, primary care services currently provided at Western Missouri Family Healthcare – Knob Noster will transition to Family Practice of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.

This change is designed to improve access to appointments while maintaining strong continuity of care within the WMMC network.

“As our communities continue to grow, we are focused on thoughtfully optimizing our primary care network to improve access and enhance the patient experience,” said Darinda J. Dick, MSN, RN, FACHE, WMMC President/CEO. “This initiative allows us to better align our providers and resources so patients can receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.”

Dr. Sara Howe and supporting clinical staff will relocate to the Warrensburg clinic, where Dr. Howe will continue to care for her established patient panel. Wren Moss, FNP, will continue seeing patients through August 28, 2026. WMMC will work closely with patients throughout the transition to ensure seamless continuity of care and ongoing access to primary care services. Patients will be supported throughout this transition to ensure continued access to care and a smooth handoff to ongoing primary care services.

Patients will continue to have access to primary care within the WMMC network throughout this transition, with coordinated support to ensure continuity and ease of scheduling.

As part of additional system improvements, Dr. Jayne Brockhaus and Dr. Jason Snowden will transition to practicing exclusively at Family Practice of Central Missouri – Warrensburg.

To further enhance access in Higginsville, Dr. Kevin Martin will provide full-time care at the Higginsville clinic, increasing appointment availability and strengthening provider coverage for patients in that community.

WMMC will also implement scheduling improvements across its family medicine clinics in Warrensburg, Higginsville, and Concordia designed to make it easier for patients to get appointments. These include expanded same-day appointment availability and increased flexibility for both routine and urgent care needs.

Patients are also encouraged to utilize Express Care in Warrensburg for convenient same-day treatment of non-emergency illnesses and minor injuries, further expanding access options across the system.

“These improvements are designed to make it easier and faster for patients to get the care they need while strengthening our primary care network for the future,” Dick said. “We are excited about what these enhancements mean for patients and providers across our region.”

Western Missouri Medical Center remains committed to investing in care models, provider support, and service enhancements that expand access and improve patient experience.
