Serving Our Community Since 1968

The WMMC Auxiliary is a dedicated volunteer organization that supports Western Missouri Medical Center through service, fundraising and community involvement. Since its founding in 1968, the Auxiliary has played an important role in enhancing patient care, supporting hospital initiatives and investing in the future of healthcare in our region. 

Guided by its motto, “Service is our Purpose,” the Auxiliary is made up of more than 250 members who generously give their time and talents to support WMMC patients, visitors and staff.

Support Through Fundraising & Giving

The Auxiliary hosts a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to support healthcare scholarships and help fund equipment and services that benefit WMMC and its patients.

Since its founding, the Auxiliary has contributed:

• More than $775,000 to benefit WMMC and patient care initiatives
• More than $119,000 in scholarships for students pursuing healthcare careers

Annual fundraising events may include:

• Ice Cream Social
• Holiday Sales
• Book Fairs
• Jewelry Fairs
• Linen Fairs

These efforts directly support WMMC and help strengthen healthcare services in our community.

Volunteer Efforts & Community Impact

More than 100 volunteers contribute nearly 13,000 volunteer hours annually throughout WMMC. Auxiliary members support the hospital in a variety of meaningful ways, including:

• Staffing the Wishing Well Gift Shop
• Assisting in hospital lobbies
• Supporting patients and visitors
• Providing special items and comfort initiatives for patients and families

The Auxiliary also helps provide:

• Handmade comfort pillows for surgery patients
• Specially made bras for post-mastectomy patients
• Teddy bears for pediatric surgery patients
• Memory boxes for families experiencing infant loss

In addition, Auxiliary members support WMMC staff and patients through special outreach efforts and seasonal activities throughout the year.

Wishing Well Gift Shop

The Wishing Well Gift Shop is operated by the WMMC Auxiliary and helps support patient care initiatives, scholarships and equipment funding at WMMC. Located inside the Main Entrance, the gift shop serves patients, visitors and staff while giving back to the Medical Center through every purchase.
