Volunteers make a significant contribution to Western Missouri Medical Center. They play critical roles in supporting Western Missouri Medical Center’s mission and have a desire to help within their community. If you have a desire to help others, this is your opportunity!

Duties

As a valued member of our team, you’ll work alongside highly trained healthcare professionals. To help ensure the work is fulfilling and rewarding, we’ll match your skills and interests with the needs of the hospital.

Each year, our volunteers contribute over 10,000 hours. Duties include:

  • Lobby and Information Desk volunteers – Greet patients and visitors, provide information, escort visitors to their destinations, deliver patient mail and flowers
  • Clerical volunteers
  • Gift shop volunteers
  • Pastoral care volunteers – Visit patients and support their spiritual needs

Volunteers often find the greatest rewards are the people they meet and the friendships they forge.

To show our appreciation for volunteering your time and talents, you’ll receive:

  • Complimentary cafeteria meal provided upon completion of a 4-hour shift
  • Free annual flu shot
  • Volunteer Appreciation Tea
  • A sense of satisfaction and pride knowing you are making a difference

Volunteer

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for 4 months
  • Completed volunteer application
  • Personal interview
  • One completed personal reference form
  • A blood test to check for TB and immunity of childhood diseases provided free of charge
  • Hospital orientation and training
  • Purchase a uniform for $20 which includes 1st- year Auxiliary dues
