Different Strokes for Different Folks (Stroke)

This group is for anyone who has survived a stroke or brain injury and those who support them.

When: Meets the second Tuesday of each month
Time: 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Location: WMMC Conference Room 1 (Main Entrance)

Johnson County Cancer Support Group

This is a support group of people whose lives have been touched by cancer and need support or have support to give.

When: Meets the first Sunday of each month
Time: 12–2 p.m.

Bariatric Surgery Support Group

This is a support group for individuals whose lives have been impacted by bariatric surgery and who are seeking support.

When: June 30, July 21, Aug. 25, Sept. 29, Oct. 20, Nov. 3, Dec. 1
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: WMMC Conference Room 2 (Main Entrance)

Community Postpartum Support Group

Motherhood can feel exciting, overwhelming, lonely, and everything in between. Join other new mothers and their babies for a no-cost, judgment-free space to connect, share experiences, and build community.

When: Third Wednesday of each month
Time: 9–11 a.m. and 6–8 p.m.

To help you feel comfortable with your care and the next step in your health, WMMC offers various free educational classes for our patients.

Breastfeeding Class

When: First Wednesday of every month. View our event calendar for specific dates.
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Location: WMMC Conference Room 1 (Main Entrance)
Registration: Contact the WMMC Obstetrics Department at 660-262-7514 no later than 5 p.m. the day before the class. Maximum of 10 couples per class.

Childbirth & Infant Care Class

When: Second Wednesday of every month. View our event calendar for specific dates.
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Location: WMMC Conference Room 1 (Main Entrance)
Registration: Contact the WMMC Obstetrics Department at 660-262-7514 no later than 5 p.m. the day before the class. Maximum of 10 couples per class.

Stop the Bleed Class

This is an instructor-led, hands-on class that teaches you how to properly do chest compressions during a medical emergency, as well as the basics of identifying and treating life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets, wound packing, and pressure dressing.

If you’re considering bariatric surgery, join us for a free, informational session to learn more about your weight loss options, meet our care team, and get your questions answered in a supportive, relaxed environment—no RSVP required.

Getting Deep with Diabetes

Western Missouri Medical Center’s Diabetes Education and Empowerment Program (DEEP) is an 8-week program taught by certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and is entirely FREE for individuals committed to learning how to manage their diabetes.
