Visiting Guidelines

As a patient and family-centered hospital, we understand visitors play an important role in patients’ healing and recovery. Due to the increase in occurrences of respiratory illness in our community, we ask that not visit if you are not feeling well. Patients with respiratory illnesses that require isolation are allowed to have visitors and we will ask that you wear appropriate protective gear when you visit. Your loved one’s nurse can help you with this process. While wearing a mask is no longer required, we have them available at the hospital entrances if you would like to wear one while visiting your loved one.

We ask that you help us provide a sense of safety and security, and create a quiet and restful environment for our patients. We ask that all visitors follow a few important guidelines:

• Flowers and plants are beautiful, but they can increase the risk of infection for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and others with weaker immune systems. If you are unsure if it’s safe to bring flowers or plants, it’s probably better not to do so.
• Balloons are cheerful, but latex balloons create a risk for patients with latex allergies. For patient safety, we prohibit latex balloons.
• Use the restroom facilities in the waiting areas.
• Honor “No Visitors” signs on patient room doors.
• Visitors are required to wear appropriate attire, which includes a shirt and shoes.

Preventing Infections

WMMC is committed to providing a clean and safe hospital environment for our patients. There are several important measures in infection control.

• Please do not visit the hospital if you have any signs of infection, such as a cough or a fever. If our staff suspects that you have an infection or contagious condition, you will not be able to visit your loved one.
• Visitors should wash hands before and after visits.
• Visitors should follow hospital rules for visiting. In some instances, isolation precautions are necessary to protect patients and others from infectious diseases.
• Please note that we reserve the right to limit visitation to maintain the best interest of patients, families, visitors and staff.
