Warrensburg, MO —Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the arrival of a new PET/CT scanner, marking a major advancement in diagnostic imaging and patient care for the region.
The event, held in partnership with the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce, included remarks from WMMC President/CEO Darinda Dick, WMMC Foundation Board President Jan Glover, and Director of Diagnostic Imaging Jake Corson.
“This is such a special project for us, because we’re not just celebrating WMMC’s success; but also, the success of our Foundation,” said Darinda J. Dick, President/CEO. “For years, we had to pay to bring a mobile PET/CT unit to our campus – reducing the availability and ease for patients and staff. Now, we’re the first in our region to bring this advanced technology on site, and we’re very proud of that.”
The PET/CT project was part of WMMC’s most ambitious campaign to date, raising $1 million to support critical updates. With the Foundation’s support, those funds and WMMC’s investment funded the nearly $1.8 million project, which included equipment purchase and renovations to the Medical Office Building.
“Your belief in the hospital and your investment in our community’s healthcare has helped us grow programs, improve technology, and—most importantly—expand patient access,” said Jan Glover, WMMC Foundation Board President.
PET/CT scans combine functional and anatomical imaging, enabling earlier detection and better monitoring of conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and brain disorders.
“The new machine also ensures continuity of emergency care by serving as a backup to WMMC’s primary CT scanner, which is vital for stroke and trauma patients,” said Darinda J. Dick, President/CEO.
“This technology, combined with the dedication of our staff, allows us to provide the highest level of care to the patients we serve,” said Jake Corson, Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
