Building Blocks Pediatrics works closely with our Rehabilitation Services Department to help your child develop a strong foundation. We’ll provide developmental evaluations and recommendations for treatment.
What are developmental evaluations?
These are in-depth assessments of a child’s skills that are administered by highly trained Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists.
What happens during this process?
The child is asked to engage in specific games, activities and social interactions per standardized tests which are then scored by the therapist. The therapist reviews the scores and establishes goals and treatment plan with the parents.
What does it help you do?
The evaluation gives an indicator of where the child is developmentally compared to other children the same age. The treatment given will help the child work towards meeting developmental milestones.
Types of Treatment:
Physical Therapy: gross motor skills, balance/walking disturbances, torticollis, sports medicine, injuries, post-op, etc.
Occupational Therapy: handwriting, fine motor skills, sensory integration, visual perception, feeding, splints, dressing, etc.
Speech Therapy: expressive/receptive language skills, vocal therapy, social language, vocabulary development, listening/processing skills, articulation, etc.
