WMMC Auxiliary Hosts 14th Annual Ice Cream Social

Warrensburg, MO (Aug. 7, 2023) — The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Auxiliary hosted the 14th Annual Ice Cream Social in WMMC’s Courtyard Café on Sunday, Aug. 6, welcoming over 350 attendees and raising almost $3,800 in gross revenue, with donations still coming in.

Members of the Auxiliary, WMMC Board of Trustees and staff volunteered to serve delicious treats to raise funds towards the purchase of a new infusion chair with heat and massage functionality for cancer patients. The cost of the infusion chair is $5,977.10.

“We were delighted with the turnout for our 14th Annual Ice Cream Social,” said Pat Higgins, Ice Cream Social co-chair along with Carol Dunham. “We are blessed to have such wonderful volunteers and generous community members. Thanks to the many Auxiliary members who provided delicious desserts and the help of almost 40 volunteers who went above and beyond to set-up, serve, and clean-up. Through everyone’s efforts we are able to purchase equipment for our hospital benefitting our greater community!”

Members of the Auxiliary baked a wide variety of tasty treats for the event, including pies, cobblers, cakes, cookies and brownies. Over 27 gallons of vanilla and chocolate ice cream were the main features, covered in the essential toppings of chocolate syrup, chopped nuts, whipped cream and cherries. The Auxiliary would like to thank Warrensburg DQ Grill & Chill for graciously donating the strawberry topping again this year.
