Warrensburg, MO — The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Auxiliary is sponsoring scholarships for Johnson County residents or those attending University of Central Missouri, State Fair Community College or University of Missouri – Kansas City that are pursuing a career in healthcare.
Scholarships are available to students in health-related fields including but not limited to nursing, medical school, physical therapy, wellness, laboratory, radiology, occupational therapy, cardio-pulmonary services, pharmacy, and nutrition. Qualified applicants are selected by the Auxiliary Scholarship Committee based on financial need, scholastic ability, work plans and demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in healthcare.
Scholarship amounts can vary, dependent on need and ability. Last year, the scholarship committee awarded five, $1,000 scholarships.
Completed applications must be submitted to Michelle Schubert in the Communications & Development Department at WMMC no later than April 1, 2024. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications for this scholarship have been distributed to all Johnson County high schools as well as Warrensburg Area Career Center, University of Central Missouri and State Fair Community College. The application can also be found online at wmmc.com/auxiliary.
The scholarship committee will begin the review process for all completed applications following the April 1 deadline. Scholarships will be awarded by early May 2024.
As educational expenses are rapidly rising and the demand for healthcare workers continues to increase, there is an ongoing need for additional funds. Memorial donations enhance the Auxiliary’s opportunity to provide additional scholarships. Donations to the scholarship fund may be made to the WMMC Auxiliary and mailed to WMMC Auxiliary, attention: Michelle Schubert, 403 Burkarth Rd, Warrensburg, MO 64093.
