Warrensburg, MO (October 14, 2020)—Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness month by hosting its 8th Annual Ladies’ Night Out (LNO) Event on October 13 as an adaptive hybrid of a virtual and in-person event due to COVID-19 precautions. This event promoted breast health awareness and encouraged women to get their annual mammogram through fun giveaways, raffles, and a keynote speaker.

This annual event strives for two goals – to raise awareness on the importance of preventative screenings and to raise funds for the WMMC Foundation to support and enhance the Medical Center’s mission. LNO raised $8,395, and had 363 people purchase tickets to help raise awareness for breast cancer. This event resulted in 114 women registering for their annual mammogram.

LNO ticket holders also received a cooler tote with goodies for all the attendees and thirteen raffles. Congratulations to the raffle winners!

The keynote speaker of the night, Dean Ohmart, WMMC’s CFO, spoke about two women in his life who had breast cancer and how their very different stories had incredibly different outcomes. His story is still available on WMMC’s Facebook @WesternMoMed.

One in eight women will have breast cancer, and Missouri women have one less barrier in their fight against breast cancer. Insurance providers were required to cover the cost of 3D mammography starting at age 40. Don’t wait until the unthinkable occurs and schedule a mammogram at the WMMC Centralized Scheduling Department at (660) 262-7370.
