Warrensburg, MO (October 6, 2017)—Dean Ohmart, Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Chief Financial Officer (CFO), is participating in a social campaign to raise breast cancer awareness in the Warrensburg community.
Ohmart, an avid support of breast health awareness, can be seen every day during the month of October wearing pink and driving his classic, pink convertible mustang. In fact, his office is decked out in pink and breast cancer awareness year round.
In an effort to raise funding for local breast cancer patients, Ohmart has pledged $1 (up to $500) for every photo of him wearing pink during the month of October posted to WMMC’s Facebook page. If area residents see him out, they are encouraged to snap a photo of him and post it at Facebook.com/WesternMoMed.
Ohmart has a personal connection to the cause.
“In the last six years, two of my best friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer,” he said. “One, Leslie, caught it early and I am still lucky to spend time with her and create more memories. The second, Karen, caught it too late and all I have now are memories.”
Dean is dedicated to educating people on the importance of early detection through regular screenings, as this is the key to a successful treatment. Mammogram screenings can detect breast cancer when it is small and localized before it becomes a lump and causes symptoms.
WMMC offers various screening options including 2D and 3D mammograms and ultrasounds. WMMC encourages every woman to talk with her primary care provider about the best screening options for them. Stand with WMMC against breast cancer this October by calling (660) 262-7370 to schedule your annual mammogram screening.
