Warrensburg, MO (June 16, 2017)—Western Missouri Medical Center’s (WMMC) donated more than $1,780 to The Food Center pantry in Warrensburg on June 16. Thanks to the generosity of WMMC employees, The Food Center can continue helping feed families in the Johnson County area.

“This is a true testament of the dedication our staff has for our community,” said Jennifer Koepke, Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer. “We take pride in giving back to our community. Our employees step up when asked, and this is yet another example of the true caring and giving nature of WMMC employees.”

“We are so thankful to the employees at Western Missouri Medical Center for this donation. There is such a need in our community and it continues to rise,” said Carole Smith, Director of The Food Center. “We have about 500 more people seeking assistance than what we saw this same time last year. It is through generosity such as this that allows us to continue helping food insecure families in the Johnson County region.”

Funds were raised by the ASPIRE team, an employee engagement program that recognizes WMMC staff, providers and volunteers who live WMMC values—accountability, service, promoting teamwork, integrity, respect and excellence. The team hosted a basket raffle to raise funds for the Warrensburg non-profit.
