Warrensburg, MO (February 28, 2022) — Western Missouri Medical Center’s (WMMC) Foundation held its fourth annual fundraising event, Fire & Ice: Havana Nights on February 25, 2022. Over $79,000 was raised, with a net of over $66,000, which was an increase of $11,000 from the previous Fire & Ice gala. The increase in the revenue was due to the increased amount of sponsorships, ticket sales, auction items and donations.

The nearly sold-out event was a fun-filled night to raise money for upcoming WMMC Foundation projects that support the Medical Center’s mission. The event featured classic casino games, live auction items, raffles, an open bar, and decadent hors d’oeuvres. The food, which was the talk of the night, was catered by Morrison’s Healthcare and led by Chef Samantha Lynn.

“We have an incredible community that came together to support the WMMC Foundation at Fire & Ice. Without their commitment to continue to elevate our medical center, this event would not be possible,” said Brooke Cox, Chair of the Special Events Committee. “It’s exciting to be a part of its growth and help support the mission of the Foundation through events like these.”

During the program, Dr. Drew Glover, emcee, announced the WMMC Foundation’s newest fund, Nurturing Nurses, which is a scholarship for nurses wanting to pursue specialty certifications. Attendees were given the opportunity to contribute to this fund in $100 increments and $6,100 was raised. Donations for this fund are still being accepted and may be sent to the attention of the WMMC Foundation or made online at WMMC.com/Foundation and selecting “Nurturing Nurses” as the fund.

“Thank you to all of the businesses and community members that sponsored or donated time, gift baskets, raffle items, and live auction items to help make this event a huge success,” said Tara Carlyle, Strategy & Development Executive. “We are humbled by the continuation of support that we see year over year. This event wouldn’t have been possible without all the time and planning from foundation members and support from the community.”
