WMMC Joins Show-Me High Value Network to Strengthen Independent, Local Health Care

Warrensburg, MO —Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is a founding member of the new Show-Me High Value Network, a network of 23 local, independent community hospitals working together to collaborate on clinical and business initiatives that enhance care, control costs and support value-based care arrangements with insurers.

While participating in the network provides opportunities to share resources, knowledge and best practices, WMMC remains an independent hospital focused on serving the needs of its community. With the support of its Board of Trustees, WMMC joined the Show-Me High Value Network to gain the benefits of collaboration while maintaining its independence and local focus.

“We’re focused on the future of health care while continuing to serve our community locally,” said Darinda J. Dick, President and CEO of Western Missouri Medical Center. “The Show-Me High Value Network gives independent community hospitals the opportunity to work together, share resources and find efficiencies while continuing to make decisions locally and remain focused on the needs of the communities we serve.”

The cornerstone of the Show-Me High Value Network is a clinically integrated network (CIN) representing nearly 1.8 million patients across the 23 participating hospitals. The network will work collaboratively on initiatives designed to improve quality, strengthen care coordination and create greater efficiencies.

A Clinical Integration Committee will oversee value-based initiatives and include a clinical representative from each participating hospital or health system. A Care Coordination Committee, made up of quality leaders from each organization, will focus on developing quality measures and implementing a data-sharing platform.

Through its participation in the network, WMMC will have opportunities to:

  • Improve quality and patient safety
  • Build efficiencies and reduce administrative burdens
  • Collaborate on clinical and business initiatives
  • Support value-based care arrangements
  • Explore opportunities to reduce the cost of equipment and services
  • Share resources, knowledge and best practices

“The Show-Me High Value Network is built on the belief that our member hospitals can accomplish more by working together,” Dick said. “By strengthening local community hospitals and helping them remain independent, we can continue to meet the health care needs of our patients and community for generations to come.”

The network will also provide opportunities for operational leaders from participating organizations to share best practices, discuss challenges and identify strategies to improve efficiency.

“WMMC is proud to be a founding member of this effort,” Dick said. “This partnership represents an important investment in the future of independent, community-focused health care and our ability to provide high-quality care close to home.”
