WMMC Receives COVID-19 Vaccines for Health Care Workers

Warrensburg, MO (December 21, 2020)—Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is excited to announce that Johnson County Community Health Center (JCCHS) delivered COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers on Friday, Dec. 18.

WMMC has received 500 COVID-19 vaccines and immediately began vaccinating frontline volunteers. These vaccines were part of the 975 allocated to JCCHS and part of Phase 1A of the vaccination process to vaccinate long-term care facility residents and staff and healthcare workers.

“This is a historic moment for not only Johnson County, Missouri but also for the world,” says Darinda J. Dick, President/CEO. There’s not a single person who has not been affected by COVID-19. This vaccine represents our future and ability to move past this year.”

Special thanks to the University of Central Missouri for loaning us an ultra-cold storage unit, capable of maintaining temperatures as low as -80 degrees Celcius, to store the COVID-19 vaccines.
