WMMC to Host Sports Medicine Seminar to Educate on Young Athlete Health Risks

Warrensburg, MO (July 20, 2017)—Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is hosting a free community event presented by Drew Glover, MD, sports and family medicine physician, on Tuesday, July 25, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. The event will take place at Warrensburg Middle School Library, located at 630 E Gay St, Warrensburg, Mo.

Parents of teenage athletes are encouraged to attend the seminar to learn more about the signs of a concussion and heat-related illnesses as well as how to prevent them. Dr. Glover will also discuss the cardiac risks, like sudden cardiac death, that young athletes face on and off the field and the importance of scheduling an electrocardiogram (ECG) screening alongside a pre-participation physical at least once during their high school athletic career.

Sports Medicine has become a necessary need when it comes to high-intensity and high-contact activities. Keeping young athletes in the game also entails keeping their health in check.

Space is limited for this free event. Please RSVP to Central Family & Sports Medicine at (660) 747-5114 in advance.
