Warrensburg, MO — Magdy Giurgius, MD, FACS, MSc, DABOM (Diplomate-American Board of Obesity Medicine), a surgeon with extensive expertise in general, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery, has joined the surgical team at Western Missouri Medical Center. Dr. Giurgius will provide diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including capsule endoscopy.
With Dr. Giurgius’s arrival, WMMC is expanding its surgical offerings to include comprehensive bariatric procedures, part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing advanced healthcare services to the community.
Dr. Giurgius completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Kentucky and a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Missouri. He is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine and has additional training in breast surgery. His clinical interests include advanced endoscopic techniques and wound care.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Giurgius is a dedicated advocate for patients and communities. He has held leadership roles with the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, served as past president of the Missouri Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and was elected as a Star of the Arkansas/Oklahoma Chapter of ASMBS. He is also an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and has contributed to the American Cancer Society’s Regional Leadership Board. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Giurgius enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, swimming, and horseback riding.
