WMMC Welcomes Ruthie Porter,

Board-Certified Lactation Consultant

Warrensburg, MO (Mar. 27, 2017)—Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is excited to welcome Ruthie Porter, RN, BSN, IBCLC to the obstetrics team!

Porter is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with a background in neonatal intensive care nursing. She will provide new mothers with training and support as they and their child learn to get the most out of their breastfeeding experience.

Porter will be joining Liz Juselis, RN, BSN, ICBLC in the WMMC Stork’s Nest.

“Our community has a growing need for breastfeeding training and support,” said Amy McCartney, RNC-OB, BSN, Obstetrics Department Manager. “We’re very excited to be adding an additional expert lactation consultant to our obstetrics team as this service is another added benefit to the family-centric birthing experience at WMMC.”

Lactation consultations are provided to all new mothers that give birth at WMMC. Porter is also available for outpatient consult appointments. To make an appointment with one of WMMC’s lactation consultants, please call (660) 262-7519.

The Stork’s Nest, WMMC’s one-stop shop for all your breastfeeding needs, continues to be available Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. The shop is located just outside of WMMC’s Obstetrics Unit (located on the second floor off the Main Entrance).
