Warrensburg, MO (January 27, 2020) — Western Missouri Medical Center’s (WMMC) Foundation held its second-annual fundraising event, Fire & Ice: Great Gatsby on January 24th, 2020 to raise money towards the “TogethER: Transforming Emergency Care” project. Over $55,000 was raised, which was an increase of $5,000 from the event last year.

The nearly sold-out event with over 250 attendees, Fire & Ice: Great Gatsby was a fun-filled night to raise money for the renovations that will be taking place over the next year in the Emergency Room (ER) at WMMC. The event featured classic casino games, live auction items, raffles, an open bar, and decadent hors d’oeuvres.

“I’m so incredibly excited for the WMMC Foundation and our hospital. Our communities, partners and sponsors truly came out in force for a second year and showed how important WMMC is for our community and surrounding areas,” says Jessica Lund, Chair of the Special Events Committee.

Additionally, a special thank you to all of the businesses and community members that sponsored or donated time, gift baskets, raffle items, and live auction items to help make this event a huge success. This event wouldn’t have been possible without all the time and planning from foundation members on this committee and support from the community.

The Fire & Ice: Great Gatsby event exceeded the first-annual event, Fire & Ice: Vegas Royale, which raised $50,119. This is due to the increased amount of sponsorships, ticket sales, auction items and donations.

All of the proceeds will be donated to the WMMC Foundation’s “TogethER: Transforming Emergency Care” project. This project will allow WMMC to increase the number of fast-track rooms, which are areas dedicated to treating the less clinically ill, to enhance the flow, patient care, privacy and reduce the length of stay for our patients in the ER.

Donations are still being accepted and may be sent to the attention of the WMMC Foundation. To learn more about the WMMC Foundation, visit WMMC.com/Foundation.
