Warrensburg, MO (February 3, 2021)—The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Foundation is honored to announce that they have received their first-ever Grateful Patient donation.

The newly-established Grateful Patient Program is an extension of the WMMC Foundation’s Perennial Circle Giving Club. This program allows patients and their loved ones to thank a member or department of the WMMC team for the care that they received while staying at the hospital. Charitable gifts are made in honor of a physician, nurse, or other caretakers who have been a part of a patient’s medical journey. Donations are used to enhance the quality of medical care given by the hospital through the most advanced cutting edge technology. Gifts are donated through cash, IRA Charitable distributions to WMMC, and transferrable stocks.

“This donation is incredibly special to the WMMC Foundation because it is a direct result of the compassionate care that was provided by the WMMC staff,” said Kathleen Brandt, WMMC Foundation President.

The first-ever Grateful Patient Program donation was made in November 2020 by the Andrade family of Knob Noster who wanted to thank WMMC for the care their loved one received. “We’re so grateful for the generous, thorough, and loving care given to Vangie while she was in the ICU,” said Julie Andrade, Vangie’s daughter-in-law. “Being able to stay in the Family Comfort Suite to be as close to her as we could be was such a blessing and a surprise – we had no idea! The nurses, doctors, and specialists kept us updated and were very patient with our many questions. We have no doubt that their kindness helped to carry her through when we could not be close to her. We miss Vangie terribly but are so glad that the whole medical staff took such great care of her.”

The donation, made to the Grateful Patient Program, was made following the family’s stay in the Family Comfort Suites. These suites, donated by the WMMC Foundation in December of 2019, provide a patient’s family with a private room to relax overnight and be close to their loved one in their time of need. There is no charge to stay in these rooms and they are available for up to three nights.
