Job Shadowing – Explore Your Interests
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily life of healthcare professionals at WMMC. Job shadowing allows students to observe and learn from experienced staff in real-world clinical and administrative environments. Participants gain firsthand insight into the roles, responsibilities, and workflows of healthcare team members.

Student Experiences and Internships – Earn Academic Credit
WMMC partners with schools and universities to provide hands-on student experiences that fulfill clinical or internship requirements for course credit. These programs combine real-world experience with guidance from WMMC staff and providers, helping students develop valuable skills while completing their academic requirements.

Nursing Programs – Hands-on Skills Development
Nursing students pursuing practical nursing, associate degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing can complete clinical hours at WMMC. Opportunities include WMMC’s Nurse Residency Program, a year-long program supporting newly licensed nurses during their first year of practice.

ECHO Camp – Discover Opportunities in Healthcare
The ECHO (Exploring Careers in Healthcare Opportunities) Program is a week-long immersive camp for high school students. Participants explore multiple healthcare careers through job shadowing, interactive demonstrations, and hands-on experiences across departments such as emergency care, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services.

WMMC Auxiliary Scholarship
The WMMC Auxiliary sponsors health career scholarships for Johnson County residents or students attending University of Central Missouri, State Fair Community College, or University of Missouri – KC who are pursuing a career in healthcare in any field.
