C.A.R.E.givers Club Donates to WMMC
Members of the WMMC Foundation Board and C.A.R.Egivers Committee presented $15,172.50 to WMMC leadership to purchase the mattresses and baby changing stations.
Warrensburg, MO (August 21, 2018)—Western Missouri Medical Center’s (WMMC) C.A.R.E.givers Committee donated 20 mattresses for inpatient beds and six baby changing stations that will be placed in WMMC clinics.
The C.A.R.E.givers Committee solicited input from all WMMC employees in late 2017 and chose mattresses for the Medical, Telemetry and Surgical Unit as part of their 2018 project goal to raise $16,500. These new mattresses will be more comfortable for our patients. Our current mattresses are meant for patients with wounds, releasing air every time the patient moves – waking patients as they sleep. This is the main cause for patient complaints in these areas. The new mattresses will feature advanced technology, called pressure redistribution, that help treat patients with wound without waking patients.
The baby changing stations will be placed in clinics in the following communities – Warrensburg, Higginsville, Knob Noster and Concordia.
The C.A.R.E.givers Club is the employee-giving branch of the WMMC Foundation, comprised of WMMC employees who raise funds for special projects that benefit employees, patients, visitors, and/or facilities. Sixty percent of every dollar raised is invested directly into a project and fourty percent of funds raised go directly to the Employee Relief Fund. WMMC’s current CAREgivers are now sitting at 84% participation compared to 73% at the beginning of 2018, and have also given out $9,000 in Emergency Relief Funds so far this year.
