WMMC and UCM Health Center Celebrate Ladies’ Night Out 2018

Warrensburg, MO (October 17, 2018)—Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) and the University of Central Missouri (UCM) Health Center celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness month by hosting the 6th Annual Ladies’ Night Out Event on October 16, 2018 in an effort to promote breast health awareness and encourage women to get their annual 2D or 3D screening mammogram.

Ladies' Night Out

400 people attended the event including ladies, volunteers, vendors, and speakers. Ladies’ Night Out provides breast health education while offering fun pampering. The goal of the event was to educate women on the importance of mammogram screenings and early detection. This event resulted in more than 90 women registering for their annual mammogram – 14 more women than last year!

Ladies’ Night Out also featured leg vein screenings, giveaways, cash bar, hor d’oeuvres, and a goodie bag for all attendees. Forty-two local vendors participated and each vendor donated either a giveaway item for all the attendees, or a gift to be raffled off. Amira Ghazali, M.D. discussed the importance of breast health and Wendy Buzzanga from Knob Noster, MO, shared her moving story of surviving breast cancer. Read her story here!

This annual event strives for two goals – to raise awareness on the importance of preventative screenings, and to bring advanced cancer care, closer to home. At the end of the event, Ladies’ Night Out raised $4,134 to be donated to WMMC’s Cancer Care Project. This project will help purchase medical equipment used for cancer treatments and Family Comfort Suites.

Additionally, all of the early bird discounted tickets for “Fire & Ice: Vegas Royale” sold out, raising $3,975 to go towards the Cancer Care Project as well. This event, being held on Jan. 25, 2019, will feature a night of fun and your favorite casino games, live action dining stations, and an open bar. Tickets are $100, and can be purchased at Purchase Your Fire and Ice: Vegas Royale Tickets Today!.

Starting Jan. 1, 2019 all insurances are required to cover 3D mammograms. 3D Mammogram reduces your chance of a call back by 20% and are much more accurate than the traditional 2D mammogram. To schedule a mammogram, please call the WMMC Centralized Scheduling Department at (660) 262-7370.
