Warrensburg, MO (October 14, 2020)—The WMMC Foundation’s Annual Support Committee hosted its second-annual “jeans4change” event on October 13th. This event is a community-wide competition to raise funds and awareness for the WMMC Foundation and breast cancer. Businesses were challenged to invite their employees to wear jeans on Tuesday, October 13th for $5. This event raised $2,630 with the Central Bank of Warrensburg taking the lead at $450.

To help bring advanced care to our community, the WMMC Foundation launched its campaign, “TogethER: Transforming Emergency Care,” to raise $200,000 to renovate the Emergency Room (ER). This renovation will increase the number of fast-track rooms, which are areas dedicated to treating the less clinically ill. It will allow enhance the flow, patient care and privacy and reduce the length of stay for our patients in the ER. Additionally, we will modify two rooms with advanced airflow features that will help contain viruses, such as COVID-19. For more information on the project, visit WMMC.com/Together

“The ER is essentially the front door of the hospital, as they see more than 20,000 patients a year. This project is very impactful for the county as a whole,” said Jan Glover, Chair of the Annual Support Committee. “As I went around to deliver the jeans4change packets, I just couldn’t believe how interested and perceptive businesses were about the project and our event. While the money donated is important to move our hospital forward, the most important aspect of this event is getting the message out about the changes in the ER and the positive impact that this will have on our community.”

Throughout the day, businesses posted their picture on their social media page and shared that they were participating in the event. Lotspeich Automotive said, “Lotspeich Automotive is proud to support Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation’s #jeans4change Day. We stand proudly with members in our community in the fight against breast cancer. Our employees are wearing pink and jeans today to benefit WMMC and its Foundation’s project ‘Together: Transforming Emergency Care’ and Breast Cancer Awareness.” Another post made by All-Starz Barbershop said, “A community where businesses and organizations support each other is a community that’s ‘on the rise!’ To those affected by Breast Cancer, All-Starz hearts goes out to you and your family!
