Warrensburg, MO – To provide a more convenient and flexible billing experience for patients, Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) is partnering with Flywire Corporation to launch a new patient payment platform on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.
Michele Shackelford, Revenue Cycle Director at WMMC, says the updated platform and statements are based on feedback received from WMMC patients. “This update is a big step toward a more patient-friendly experience,” said Shackelford. “This will provide up-to-date technology and new billing options for patients, including the ability to set up payment plans, text message reminders and electronic statements.”
Flywire is a global payments enablement and software company that serves more than 3,500 clients across 240 countries and territories around the world. Flywire’s technology is designed to embed within the existing workflows for its clients, so organizations can optimize the payment experience for their customers while eliminating operational challenges.
In addition to the updates, patients will now be able to connect directly with local WMMC financial staff for assistance with the Flywire payment platform. “It was important for us to bring our customer service back to WMMC rather than sending patients through a third party for questions regarding their bill,” said Shackleford. “We’re working very hard to ensure that this is a positive transition for our community.”
Although patients will notice a change in the appearance of their billing statements, the transition to the updated platform will not directly impact patients’ balances, and patients will still have access to their previous billing information. Patients currently enrolled in an automatic payment plan will need to set up their automatic payments through the new patient portal after Dec. 1, but no action is required from individuals who are not currently enrolled in an automatic payment plan.
