What is giving Tuesday and when is it?

The next Giving Tuesday is on November 28, 2023. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. It is a way to begin the giving season and contribute charitable donations to nonprofits. It occurs annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.

How Your Gifts Help

Gifts touch every area of our medical center. They help attract the most talented physicians, fund facility expansions and ensure you benefit from the best equipment and technology. When you make a gift, you have the ability to put it to work in areas that matter most to you. Most donors prefer not to designate their gift and trust the Foundation Board of Directors will apply it to the area of greatest need. “Since the WMMC Foundation was completely reorganized 5 years ago, I’ve been privileged to be a part of this fine organization. During this time I’ve been so impressed with its focus on supporting and promoting the great value of our community-owned hospital. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet and interact with the many of hospital’s staff both as a board member and as a patient. All of these positive experiences have convinced my wife and me to contribute to the WMMC Foundation.”

Employees receive ERF: Kim Lockard

“On Tuesday, March 8, I came home from work to find my house on fire. Johnson County Fire Protection District responded very quickly and contained the fire mainly to the master bedroom, however, the amount of smoke damage throughout the rest of the house resulted in a total loss for our family. Two days later I received an email from the hospital informing me that I was nominated and approved to receive a grant from the Employee Relief Program! For this grant to be available for when the unexpected happens is truly amazing! I cannot thank the hospital enough for having this grant available. Insurance is there to cover you in the long run, however for the right now this grant was a true lifesaver! Thank you, WMMC!”

The WMMC Foundation has launched its most extensive capital campaign to raise $1 million to bring innovative Interventional Radiology (IR) to our community, elevating the care we provide in three fundamental areas: cancer, stroke, and cardiovascular care.

What is Interventional Radiology?

Interventional Radiology (IR) is an exciting and growing medical specialty that enables doctors to perform surgical procedures to diagnose, treat and cure a variety of conditions in a minimally invasive way. IR uses a combination of catheter-based procedures and imaging technology, such as ultrasound and digital X-ray, to diagnose and treat disease. It focuses on blood vessels and the lymphatic system and can treat a wide range of conditions from cancer to infertility.

According to United Nations population estimates, 16% of the world’s population will be older than 65 by 2050, pointing to a rising need for safer, more efficient, and less expensive medical procedures. Most IR treatments are alternatives to procedures that once required open surgery.
