Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery
WMMC offers advanced bariatric surgery options as part of our commitment to helping individuals achieve sustainable weight loss and improved overall health. For those who qualify, bariatric surgery is a safe, effective, and life-changing tool when combined with long-term lifestyle support. Whether you’re exploring surgical options for the first time or continuing your weight loss journey, our multidisciplinary team is here to provide expert, compassionate care every step of the way.
Obesity is a complex, chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide and is linked to numerous serious health conditions, including:
Obesity can also lead to joint pain, depression, and a reduced quality of life. Bariatric surgery can help prevent or reverse these conditions, leading to improved health and a higher quality of life.
Our bariatric program supports individuals with obesity or related health conditions who have not found success with diet and exercise alone. We offer different options tailored to patient’s needs and goals, including but not limited to sleeve gastrectomy and endoscopic gastric balloon:
Bariatric procedures at WMMC are led by Dr. Magdy Giurgius, MD, FACS, MSc, DABOM, a board-certified surgeon with advanced training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Giurgius is dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive, personalized surgical treatment plans to ensure long-term success.
He is joined by Makenzie Evinger, MSN, FNP-BC, a board-certified nurse practitioner who supports patients throughout the bariatric process, providing education, follow-up care, and ongoing encouragement every step of the way.
A referral from your Primary Care Provider is preferred for bariatric surgery services but not required. For non-surgical weight management options, please contact your Primary Care Provider directly to discuss the best approach for your needs.
If bariatric surgery is not the right option for you, WMMC also offers non-surgical, medically guided weight management through your Primary Care Provider (PCP). These programs focus on lifestyle modifications, nutritional counseling, and medical monitoring to help you achieve your weight loss goals. Your PCP may also prescribe weight loss medications to support your efforts.
