Warrensburg, MO — The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Foundation celebrated its sixth-annual fundraising extravaganza, “Fire & Ice: Prom Eras,” on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. The event reached sold-out status a month before the affair, breaking previous attendance records and further solidifying its status as a premier community gathering. Buzz Herman brought his infectious energy to the festivities as the emcee for the evening.

An extraordinary $80,000 was raised during the event, with a net total exceeding $58,000. These funds will support a crucial project aligned with WMMC’s mission, “Raising the Bar: Elevating Care to New Heights,” where WMMC will own the region’s only stationary PET/CT machine.

This year’s gala transported attendees through the eras of prom history, blending the timeless elegance of classic casino games, lively auctions, thrilling raffles, and a spirited open bar. Culinary delights, a hallmark of the event, were crafted and served by Morrison’s Healthcare catering team, led by Chef Samantha Lynn.

The success of “Fire & Ice: Prom Eras” was a result of diverse revenue streams, including live auction bids, raffle ticket sales, pledged donations, ticket sales, and generous sponsorships.

Brooke Cox, Chair of the Special Events Committee, expressed her gratitude, saying, “As Chair of the Special Events Committee, I am thrilled at the success of our Fire & Ice fundraising event. This evening highlighted the power of community support for advancing healthcare, and we want to extend our gratitude to all who contributed and continue to support WMMC.

Jennie Snapp, Director of Communications & Development at WMMC, expressed sincere thanks, highlighting the incredible community support.

“I’m grateful to our hardworking Special Events and Business Relations Committees for creating such a special event,” said Snapp. “Seven years ago, these committees met to start planning the event, ensuring it was captivating and nothing like anything our community has seen, and they have succeeded! Of course, none of this would be possible without our sponsors, who underwrite the event each year, as well as our volunteers and the Communications & Development Team at WMMC.”

“Fire & Ice: Prom Eras” not only surpassed expectations but also reinforced the commitment of the WMMC Foundation to making a lasting impact on healthcare in the region. The Foundation looks forward to building on this success and continuing its mission of enhancing the well-being of the community through innovative and compassionate healthcare initiatives.
