WMMC Employees Help Visitors Take Charge

Charging stations are now available in several areas of Western Missouri Medical Center and its clinics thanks to the generosity of WMMC employees through the C.A.R.E. Givers Club, the employee giving branch of the Foundation. Pictured are members of the C.A.R.E. Committee with one of seven charging stations.

Warrensburg, MO (March 20)—Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) employees celebrated the first major purchase of the C.A.R.E. Givers Club on Friday, March 17, 2017. Charging stations for visitors to charge electronic devices are now available in various locations throughout the hospital and some clinics thanks to the generosity of WMMC employees to “help visitors take charge.”

For its first-ever, hospital-wide project, the C.A.R.E. Committee identified a need for mobile device charging stations throughout the facility and selected several high-traffic areas to receive the first shipment. Installation of the charging stations began March 13 in the Emergency Department waiting area, Outpatient (East Lobby) waiting area, Courtyard Café, Western Missouri Bone & Joint, Western Missouri Internal Medicine, and Central Family & Sports Medicine. Future plans include adding charging stations throughout the WMMC campus and affiliated Medical Practices. In all, the Foundation will purchase approximately 25 charging stations within the next year.

The C.A.R.E. Givers Club is an employee-giving branch of the WMMC Foundation that allows employees to support WMMC, its employees, patients and visitors. In just a few short months, the club has surpassed its goal, with more than 60 percent employee participation.

“I am very proud of our employees but not surprised. They prove each and every day that they are compassionate and do whatever they can to make our visitors and patients as comfortable as possible. Their dedication to this organization, to this community, and to their peers is evident in the generosity they have shown,” said Darinda Reberry, WMMC President/CEO.

C.A.R.E., which stands for Caring Actions Reward Everyone, began as an idea to further develop the Foundation. A volunteer committee of WMMC employees oversees the C.A.R.E. Program, working to raise funds internally for special projects that benefit employees, patients, visitors and/or facilities at WMMC.
