Warrensburg, MO (April 17, 2023) — Western Missouri Medical Center’s (WMMC) Foundation received its inaugural diamond-level donation of $50,000.
The WMMC Foundation recently announced it had received $50,000 – the most significant single philanthropic gift made to the Pillar Society Giving Club in the Foundation’s history—from Andy Gelbach & Karen Gonzalez.
“We are so humbled and grateful for Andy and Karen’s generosity in leading the WMMC Foundation to new heights by establishing a Diamond Level gift,” said Jan Glover, President of the WMMC Foundation. “This is inspiring and will continue to assist the hospital in advancing top-notch care right here!”
The gift comes following medical care received by Andy from Drs. David Glover and Mark Pluym. It will support the medical center’s care for patients and visitors and help advance the organization’s mission. While the gift was made to the Pillar Society Giving Club, it will ultimately be placed in the WMMC Foundation’s general fund, which will be used to support the next capital campaign project, projected to be $1 million dollars or more. This project will be announced at a later date.
“Andy and Karen, as well as other Pillar Society members, understand the importance of quality healthcare in our community,” said Matt Lotspeich, Chair of the Major Gifts Committee. “Pillar Society members have made a financial commitment to our providers & staff at WMMC to allow them resources so patients know they are receiving the best possible care close to home. They are giving our community the gift of better healthcare, and we are extremely grateful for their dedication and contributions.”
The WMMC Foundation was reinvigorated in 2015 and began accepting donations in 2017 under its new not-for-profit status as 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(3). Since then, over $1,500,000 has been raised. While the WMMC Foundation is young, it has hit many milestones and continues to impact the medical center.
