Medical Assistant Training Program at WMMC
Western Missouri Medical Center’s Medical Assistant (MA) training program provides the hands-on training and education necessary for participants to become certified medical assistants. Students who complete this paid program and pass their Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam will earn their CCMA certification and will be immediately interviewed for employment at WMMC’s clinic locations in Warrensburg, Higginsville, Concordia and Knob Noster, MO.
The 16-week, independent study and clinical skills review program allows students to work as paid employees while receiving hands-on training at WMMC clinic locations under the supervision of an assigned preceptor. Students work closely with providers and perform a variety of nursing and administrative duties, including but not limited to maintaining clinical supplies, preparing patients’ rooms, maintaining logs within the nursing areas, answering phones and performing other related work as required.
After completing the program and successfully obtaining CCMA certification, participants must complete a year of employment at WMMC’s clinic locations.

Our goal for the MA Training Program is to empower students in a supportive environment that builds the skillset and confidence required to provide high quality service as a healthcare professional.
Program Overview
The 16-week program introduces new skills and training modules each week during the first 12 weeks of the program. Student MAs spend 3 ½ days a week at their assigned clinic receiving one-on-one training from their preceptor. Each week will also include a day dedicated to clinical skills review and a half day reserved for online learning. The final four weeks of the program will include skills training and reviewing for the certification exam.

What are the qualifications for this program?
A high school diploma or equivalent is required to participate in the program. Candidates accepted to the program are required to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) training within one month of their hiring date. Participants must work well among a diverse team and adhere to the established policies, procedures, and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
Is there an attendance policy for this program?
Participants must maintain an attendance rate must be 95% or higher during the program. One clinical check-off day absence and one in-clinic day absence will be excused during the program.
Will I be paid while participating in the program?
Yes, program participants will be paid an hourly wage for each hour of clinical work and classroom work.
Where do I take the certification exam, and how much does it cost?
WMMC will facilitate the exam through the hospital and will cover fees for each participant’s certification.
What happens after I complete the program?
Upon completion of the program, certified MAs can apply for open MA positions at any WMMC clinic.
