Job Shadowing – Explore Your Interests

Go behind the scenes with members of our expert healthcare team during an immersive job shadowing session. These observation opportunities are perfect for students with an emerging interest in healthcare who want to experience the day-to-day environment of a hospital or clinic setting. Participants will connect with experienced professionals and “shadow” them throughout their daily routine, gaining firsthand insight into their roles and responsibilities at WMMC.

Student Experiences and Internships – Earn Academic Credit

WMMC partners with students, schools and universities to provide hands-on student experiences that fulfill clinical/internship requirements for course credit. We work with students to facilitate learning opportunities that combine real-world experience with valuable insight from WMMC staff and providers. School counselors and coordinators are welcome to contact WMMC for more information. Individuals seeking to complete course hours can do so by completing an affiliated agreement.

Nursing Programs – Hands-on Skills Development

Nursing students enrolled in practical nursing, associated degree of nursing, or Bachelor of Science Nursing can find opportunities to complete clinical hours at Western Missouri Medical Center. These opportunities include WMMC’s Nurse Residency Program, a year-long program designed to support and assist newly licensed nurses during their first year of practice.

ECHO Camp – Discover Opportunities in Healthcare

Western Missouri Medical Center’s ECHO (Exploring Careers in Healthcare Opportunities) program is an immersive week-long camp designed to introduce high school students to the world of healthcare. Through job shadowing and hands-on experiences, participants will connect with healthcare professionals, participate in interactive demonstrations, and explore various departments such as emergency care, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services.
