Giving Tuesday
On #GivingTuesday, make the choice to invest in the future of your local health care by making a donation to the Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation. 100% of your gifts are invested into projects within Western Missouri Medical Center that improve healthcare right here at home in Johnson County, Missouri.
The next Giving Tuesday is on November 29, 2022. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. It is a way to begin the giving season and contribute charitable donations to nonprofits. It occurs annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
How Your Gifts Help
Gifts touch every area of our medical center. They help attract the most talented physicians, fund facility expansions and ensure you benefit from the best equipment and technology. When you make a gift, you have the ability to put it to work in areas that matter most to you. Most donors prefer not to designate their gift and trust the Foundation Board of Directors will apply it to the area of greatest need. For more information or frequently asked questions about the WMMC Foundation, visit the WMMC Foundation FAQ page.

“Since the WMMC Foundation was completely reorganized 5 years ago, I’ve been privileged to be a part of this fine organization. During this time I’ve been so impressed with its focus on supporting and promoting the great value of our community-owned hospital. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet and interact with the many of hospital’s staff both as a board member and as a patient. All of these positive experiences have convinced my wife and me to contribute to the WMMC Foundation.”

“On Tuesday, March 8, I came home from work to find my house on fire. Johnson County Fire Protection District responded very quickly and contained the fire mainly to the master bedroom, however, the amount of smoke damage throughout the rest of the house resulted in a total loss for our family. Two days later I received an email from the hospital informing me that I was nominated and approved to receive a grant from the Employee Relief Program! For this grant to be available for when the unexpected happens is truly amazing! I cannot thank the hospital enough for having this grant available. Insurance is there to cover you in the long run, however for the right now this grant was a true lifesaver! Thank you, WMMC!”

Giving Clubs
On #GivingTuesday, you can choose to give your time and get involved in the future of your local health care. Each of the giving clubs listed below has a committee of volunteers behind them. The WMMC Foundation’s six committees bring together a passionate group of community members who are reimagining what local healthcare looks like for our greater community.
Recognizes major gifts from businesses and individuals of $5,000 – $25,000 or more. As a member of this distinguished group of community pillars, you can help to continue the tradition of local health care excellence that began in our community over 200 years ago. Your gift will profoundly impact the quality of care by preserving and improving local healthcare facilities and services.
Recognizes those individuals who have remembered the Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation in their wills or estate plans. These types of deferred gifts establish your legacy today and ensure that future generations will benefit from your generosity. For more information on IRA Distributions & Charitable Giving, click here.
Recognizes businesses for their pledged gifts of $1,000, $5,000, $10,000 or more, payable over a 4-year period.
Recognizes donors who give a recurring, annual gift of $100 or more. Perennial Circle members are individuals who take an active interest in the future of healthcare in our communities.
Recognizes the employees of WMMC who give a minimum annual gift of $25 ($1 per pay period) or more. The C.A.R.E.givers Committee is a volunteer group of WMMC employees who oversee the C.A.R.E. Program. They work to generate funds for special projects, which they determine through feedback from their co-workers. Those special projects might benefit our employees, our patients, our visitors and/or our facilities.
So often, WMMC receives sincere thanks from patients who appreciate the care they received. But some express interest in showing their gratitude in a more lasting way, which prompted the WMMC Foundation to develop the Grateful Patient Program, a branch of the Foundation that allows patients to give a monetary gift in honor of their caregiver.
The Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors consists of 13 residents within the service area who share a common goal – to do all we can to help, support, and improve healthcare in our community.
We are very proud of our hospital! It is a vital part of our community, not only because it provides life-saving health care services, but also because it plays an important role in overall community health and wellness.
We as a board are dedicated to ensuring that WMMC remains strong by engaging in philanthropic activities designed to increase community awareness and participation in helping meet the needs of the medical center. We invite you to join us in our efforts and encourage you to learn more about WMMC and the Foundation.
