Meet Victoria Rinck, Certified Nurse Midwife!

I always knew I wanted to work in labor and delivery!

As a little girl, I made little maternity wards for my legos so that they would have a place to deliver their babies. I worked for ten years as a labor and delivery nurse in several hospitals in Kansas City and it was actually while working with another nurse who was working on becoming a midwife that I realized that I needed to go back and make that dream a reality. That nurse was Krysta Ramirez-Henry, and I was lucky enough to be a student under her and then have her be one of my coworkers for the past two years. I enjoyed taking care of families in the hospital and wanted to be more involved in their care.

Being a midwife means I can help care for a woman and her family throughout her life, for anything from birth control to pregnancy to problem visits. I love when siblings help me find the baby’s heartbeat, it’s a great family experience. Plus, I have had several years of working in an out of hospital birth setting and am happy to be able to provide a similar experience here at Western Missouri Medical Center.

Currently, I live in Warrensburg with my 3 kids (2 girls and a boy), 3 cats, and enjoy sewing and hiking.

Meet the Midwives

While the midwifery group started at WMMC as a single person, it has grown into a practice with several midwives including the recent addition of Tracey Arwood and Amanda Hill, and midwives Krysta Ramirez-Henry and Victoria Rinck. You can meet the new midwives Thursday, October 4th at 6:30 pm at WMMC for the Meet the Midwives event. You can decide if a midwife is the right choice for your birthing experience, take a tour of WMMC’s birthing facility, and learn more about the classes offered by the Obstetrics Department.

Continuing the Journey

A two-night Childbirth Class on the first and second Wednesday of every month. This two night course includes:

  1. Personal in-depth tour of our Birthing Center.
  2. Hands on teaching about monitors and equipment used in the delivery room.
  3. Information on pain control options (with or without medications)
  4. Information about procedures available: C-sections, circumcisions, assisted deliveries, epidurals, etc.
  5. Discussion of what to expect during your stay at our Birthing Center.

Breastfeeding and Infant Care classes include:

  1. Meet other moms and soon-to-be-moms to create a network of breastfeeding support.
  2. Learn about the unexpected struggles of breastfeeding, and de-bunk breastfeeding myths.
  3. Learn more about infant care and have your questions answered.

If you are considering about delivering at WMMC’s Obstetrics Department, or would like to register for a class or tour, call (660) 262-7514. Learn more about the WMMC birthing experience by reading Elizabeth’s Story.
