The Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation promotes community awareness and a philanthropic culture to support the WMMC mission to provide high-quality healthcare services that improve the wellness of our greater community. Putting patients first isn’t something we say, it is proven in everything we do.
Our work ensures the availability of modern facilities and the most advanced cutting-edge technology right here at home, without the need to travel for care. It is through generous gifts of all sizes that help the WMMC Foundation continues its mission and provides for the well-being of our community.
The WMMC Foundation was established in 1984. In 2015, the WMMC Foundation began a reinvigoration process. In addition to adding Board members, part of the seven committees were formed, currently comprised of more than 70 community leaders.
Each committee is charged with answering the call to meet the growing healthcare needs of those we serve – our families, our friends, and our neighbors. This reorganization will sharpen our focus in the specific areas of philanthropy and donor stewardship.
How Your Gifts Help
Gifts touch every area of our medical center. They help attract the most talented physicians, fund facility expansions and ensure you benefit from the best equipment and technology. When you make a gift, you have the ability to put it to work in areas that matter most to you. Most donors prefer not to designate their gift and trust the Foundation Board of Directors will apply it to the area of greatest need. “Since the WMMC Foundation was completely reorganized 5 years ago, I’ve been privileged to be a part of this fine organization. During this time I’ve been so impressed with its focus on supporting and promoting the great value of our community-owned hospital. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet and interact with the many of hospital’s staff both as a board member and as a patient. All of these positive experiences have convinced my wife and me to contribute to the WMMC Foundation.”

“On Tuesday, March 8, I came home from work to find my house on fire. Johnson County Fire Protection District responded very quickly and contained the fire mainly to the master bedroom, however, the amount of smoke damage throughout the rest of the house resulted in a total loss for our family. Two days later I received an email from the hospital informing me that I was nominated and approved to receive a grant from the Employee Relief Program! For this grant to be available for when the unexpected happens is truly amazing! I cannot thank the hospital enough for having this grant available. Insurance is there to cover you in the long run, however for the right now this grant was a true lifesaver! Thank you, WMMC!”

So often, WMMC receives sincere thanks from patients who appreciate the care they received. But some express interest in showing their gratitude in a more lasting way, which prompted the WMMC Foundation to develop the Grateful Patient Program, a branch of the Foundation that allows patients to give a monetary gift in honor of their caregiver.
The Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors consists of 13 residents within the service area who share a common goal – to do all we can to help, support, and improve healthcare in our community.
We are very proud of our hospital! It is a vital part of our community, not only because it provides life-saving healthcare services, but also because it plays an important role in overall community health and wellness.
We as a board are dedicated to ensuring that WMMC remains strong by engaging in philanthropic activities designed to increase community awareness and participation in helping meet the needs of the medical center.
